Since July 2016, Adriana is head of the Venture Capital and Mezzanine team.
Over the past decade, she has been a leader in portfolio management and public/multilateral fundraising in Mexico. In 2013 she was part of the founder team at the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INADEM), where she designs and lead (grants and co-investment) programs focus on boost the young financial ecosystem for high impact entrepreneurs, helping to re-launch the National Guarantees System with the National Investment Bank (NAFINSA) and the most successful platform to co-invest with first time fund and fist time fund managers (35 new investment vehicles 2013-2015).
Tortajada was part of the Entrepreneur Venture Capital Fund CONACYT-NAFIN* since 2004. She is a founding member of the first public capital fund for technology and scientific entrepreneurs, where she leads the negotiation and closing of 44 investments (US$20 million) in seed and venture transactions throughout Mexico. Also she collaborates in the design of the strategy to create the venture capital industry in the country, which include the launching of the first venture capital fund of funds Mexico Ventures 1 (US$100 million).
Member of Class 16 of the Kauffman Fellows Program at the Center for Venture Education in Palo Alto, California (2011-2013). The mission of the KFP is to develop the next generation of leaders in VC over the world.
Adriana received her Bachelor´s degree in finance at the University of Guadalajara, and received her MSc. in public administration from Ortega y Gasset University of Madrid, Spain. In 2009, she attended the “Open Innovation and Corporate Entrepreneurship Course” at the University of California, Berkeley Hass School of Business. In 2006, she was recognized like one of the 30 professional promises in their 30’s in Mexico, ranking by the top business magazine EXPANSION (“30 promesas en los 30”). BecasMOB, a nonprofit institution, gave the special award of “Graduate of the Year 2017” for her outstanding contribution to the venture capital industry and to the innovators and technological entrepreneurs, the community who are truly committed to create something great for Mexico.
