Juan Lucena is an industrial engineer, graduated from Instituto Tecnológico Buenos Aires – ITBA (1992) and with an MBA from University of Pennsylvania, Wharton (1998). With 20 years of experience in the industry, he started in New York as an associate at Bankers Trust / Deutsche Bank in 1997, investing the bank’s capital in private equity opportunities in Latin America. In 2004, jointly with Deutsche Bank’s private equity team, he starts Alothon Group, a private equity firm with focus in middle market opportunities in Brazil. In 2008, he leaves New York to focus in Sao Paulo, Brazil where he worked in the middle market private equity sector until 2017 when he left to found Alba Capital. Alba Capital’s strategy is to invest in middle market opportunities in Argentina by contributing capital, strategy and management. During his 20-year career in private equity, the group in which he worked at, invested in 35 opportunities in Latin America of which 29 have been divested.
